Fear-Hoes of a Feather Stick Together: Sandusky, Paterno & Long

Be aware of the powerless child!!! Jerry Sandusky, trapped on the cycle of thought meet Eddie Long, talking to Joe-Pap Paterno.  Eddie long might have advised, Joe Pap that the moral high road of denial was now a reality show ‘King with no Clothes’ the laws of ethical behavior is  the current high-brow question of the day.  

Pay attention to the obvious connect-a-dots in their story lines. Let’s use the ‘KISS Principal’ and keep it simple. Look for the similarities rather than the differences.  Connect the dots. What are the facts and what are the bull-shit thoughts a person would have to believe to commit such heinous acts on a powerless child, adolescent, or young adult or keep the secrets of the perpetrator.

The issues of shame and guilt in child sexual violence must be acknowledged; aside from the physical damage that sexual violence can cause; the emotional component is powerful and far reaching.  Sexually violated children are tormented by their own internal shame and guilt.  They may feel that they are responsible for the sexual violence perpetrated or somehow brought it on themselves.  This can lead to self-loathing and sexual problems as they grow older – often either excessive promiscuity or an inability to have intimate relations.

Most parents believe they have such a bond with their children that if anything sexually inappropriate happen…they would tell their parent.   NO, NOT…the shame of sexual violence makes it very difficult for children to come forward.  They may worry that others won’t believe them, will be angry with them, or that it will split their family apart.  Because of these obstacles appear enormous to a child, false accusations of sexual violation are not common, if a child confides in you, take him or her seriously!!!

Let’s forget the drama, trauma, moral chaos of how Eddie long acted out his story.  As in the Catholic Church, University, and other Institutions that most hold in high esteem there lurk people both male and female who prey on powerless children as others see, hear, yet dismiss their action due to their positions of power, privilege, money, ignorance and denial.

Sandusky like Long proclaims that they are not pedophiles.  Their actions were innocent as they helped the poor, less fortunate and powerless children and their families they loved. Both appear confident that the roles they play in their particular sagas were merely misconstrued as their foundation and programs mission is said to protect, aid, and empower the less fortunate.  Apparently in their brains their actions make all the sense, as did each and every one who failed to help the children enduring these heinous experiences and secretly kept what they knew to themselves.

Warning signs of sexually violated children are *Trouble walking or sitting, *Displays knowledge or interest in sexual acts inappropriate to his or her age, or even seductive behavior, *Makes strong efforts to avoid a specific person, without an obvious reason, *Doesn’t want to change clothes in front of others or participate in physical activities, *An STD or pregnancy, especially under the age of 14, and *Runs away from home.  These powerless children need special mental and emotional treatment and support.

In DrBev’s World, Joe Pap’s lessons of Ethics – Ethical inappropriate Behaviors are factually documented along with Sandusky with times lines made available to the public.  Moreover, Sandusky appears encouraged that so many adults in high positions of power knew and did not protect a child from hurt, pain, and suffering. 

Not so, in the Black Church scandal involving Eddie Long. Similarly, to the Catholic Church scandals, Long’s members believe in their church.  They believed in their mission.  Additionally, out of the temptation that comes only to the virtuous, they somehow persuaded themselves that protecting their institutions various good works MATTERED MORE the justice for the powerless children they were supposed to shepherd and protect.

Both these Men of honor like Sandusky and Long were revered by many and yet allowed to continue raping powerless children, for so many years. The obvious power and age-differential emerges as the ages of the children reveal in the Sandusky case.  Not so in Eddie Long’s case.  Long groomed his ‘prey’ until age sixteen (16), legal age of consent in Georgia.  However, note in Long’s case not much documentation of time lines by the Black Church officials has been revealed to the public.

Pedophiles use the similar tactics when caught such character assassination, blame, shame of the powerless child they raped, confused, and perpetrated Emotional Violence upon.

The actions or lack thereof, perpetrator or keepers of Sandusky, Long, Paterno’s Secrets have wreaked havoc and trauma in the lives of the children they ‘touched’ all are responsible for their plight. As Ross Douthat, New York Times wrote “No higher cause can trump that obligation—not church, and certainly not a football program.  And not even a lifetime of heroism can make up for leaving a single child Alone, Abandoned to evil, Weeping in the Dark.”
